SUNDAY, 17 MAY 2020 – Toowoomba Redwood and Jubilee Parks

Welcome to the 4th Annual Milne Bay Military Challenge community trail race event that raises funds to help our local community.  The event takes place at Toowoomba’s Redwood and Jubliee Parks each year.  The Milne Bay Military Challenge community trail race is a must for those wanting to set the best record or those looking to have some fun.  It is a fantastic community race where participants can enjoy the breathtaking views of the range and valley, and feel great about helping out our local community.

The event is hosted by Rotary Club of Toowoomba South and it’s satellite club the ‘Edge’ along with Hutchinson Builders being the title sponsor for the 2020 Milne Bay Military Challenge community trail race event.

For the 2020 Milne Bay Military Challenge, we are excited to announce that we have changed it up so that the event is more community-orientated than ever before.  Individuals, friends, students, families and work colleagues can register to participate in the Milne Bay Military Challenge as individuals for either the 7km race category or the 15km race category.  Participants can nominate a not-for-profit charity/organisation or school to team up with, and a percentage of the registration fee will be directed back to the participants nominated not-for-profit charity/ organisation or school to provide essential health, equipment, and materials to enhance the lives of our community.

It is important to remember that the Milne Bay Military Challenge community trail race event is held in recognition of the Darling Downs based 25th Australian Infantry Ballation.  Its role in the battle of Milne Bay in Papua New Guinea saw the first defeat of the Japanese imperial forces on land during World War II.  The event honors the hallowed memory of the many men who voluntarily enlisted from the Downs, and who entrained at or passed through Toowoomba to become members of the 25th Battalion.

Remembering our heroes, Who’s your hero?
